Clecim recently delivered state-of-the-art equipment to ArcelorMittal French-based Saint-Chely plant. The supplied components for the silicon steel Reversing Cold Mill are enhancing the mill capability to produce the finest products for electromobility solutions.

ArcelorMittal ‘s selection in favor of Clecim is based on our longstanding mutual trust and cooperation in Cold Rolling.

In this field of steel industry, accuracy is key. This necessarily goes along with a proven method, and especially a consulting stage with the steel producer to secure the technical solution, the project organization, and stages:

• An in-depth study analyzing the potentials for performance improvement

• Evaluation of possible solutions based on well-proven rolling technology packages from Clecim

• Detailing and securing the contract in all relevant aspects up the installation and plant shutdown strategy

The resulting tailormade solution is based on a 2-stage model. In the first stage, a flexible constant pass line system is installed to improve rolled material tolerances and mill productivity, but also to ease maintenance on the overall mill (Back-up roll change benefiting from such upgrade). Both companies have commonly worked an execution model leading to a first smooth and minimized line shutdown.

Following this first milestone, the second step includes the renewal of mill profile and flatness actuators into a new work roll bending and shifting solution. The additional benefit is quickly expected in terms of yield with significantly better strip thickness tolerance at edges. The respective installation was planned in December 2021.

More than ever, Clecim is committed to deliver groundbreaking solutions for mills bringing its customers’ competitiveness further ahead. Together at every step for cold rolling’s future!
